Urgent Action release of the human rights activist Soni Sori

TERRE DES FEMMES is committed to the immediate release of Soni Sori, a teacher in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh and Ureinwohneraktivistin.
In October 2011 she was arrested by police on charges of collaboration with the terrorist group classified as Naxalites. During their detention and interrogations she was tortured by police and found sexual violence. For months, she waits in detention awaiting trial.
Why was arrested Soni Sori?
Sori Soni is among the Indian indigenous people (Adivasi). For many years she has been for the rights of the Adivasi struggles and in particular for the implementation of minimum wages in the factories of the region and against land grab by big business. The police and state security forces see in adivasi activists like Soni Sori often a threat and challenge to their power use and, therefore, often politically motivated charges. Thus, Soni Soris name of the authorities mentioned repeatedly in connection with terrorist attacks by the Naxalites. At the 04. An independent investigation of torture allegations. Those responsible must be tried in court and brought to justice.
Soni Sori be accommodated in an environment in which it continues to be protected from torture and is secured in the appropriate medical care.
Soni Sori has released and all politically motivated charges must be dropped immediately.
Establish a Commission of Inquiry, which examined the situation of women in police custody, Soni Soris because fate is not an isolated case!
State of Emergency, which largely restrict the civil rights, abolish!
